Winnipeg Jets Afternoon Links

Getting you set up for tonight’s Jets game.

Note: Puck drop is at 6 PM CST as the Jets go up against the Flyers in Philadelphia. After the game, be sure to check out illegalcurve.com for all the post-game reaction.

Note II: This evening you are welcome to join us at Boston Pizza on Taylor Avenue for an IC Watch Party. Of course after the final buzzer sounds between Winnipeg and Philadelphia, we want you to be part of the conversation on the Illegal Curve Post-Game Show as we discuss and analyze the results of the game starting around 8:40 PM CST.

Note III: One player who won’t be playing tonight is Rasmus Kupari who is in concussion protocol after taking a spill in the game on Tuesday against the Islanders. Of course if they put him on IR it would free up a roster spot for the Jets if they want to make a trade today. Starting at midnight the roster limit (23) expires although teams have to remain cap compliant.

Note IV: While everyone is focused on Trade Deadline which end tomorrow the Jets got a prospect signed today as the team announced they had signed 2023 5th rounder Jacob Julien to a three-year ELC.

Note V: As per Frank Seravalli of Daily Faceoff there’s been a goalie swap between the Jets and Panthers dealing Kaapo Kahkonen for Winnipegger Chris Driedger.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Sun: Jets job in Philly: block out trade noise, stop mini-skid. Couldn’t help but read the headline for Paul’s story and think of Kevin Nealon’s acting in Happy Gilmore “You gotta harness in the good energy, block out the bad. Harness. Energy. Block. Bad. Feel the flow Happy. Feel it. It’s circular. It’s like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse, it goes up and down, and AROUND. It’s circular. Circle, with the music, the flow. All good things.”

Jets head coach Scott Arniel and forward Nino Niederreiter discuss how the NHL trade deadline can be an awkward time, especially this year with Winnipeg set to play a back-to-back Thursday and Friday. Niederreiter has changed teams a few times in the past and has learned that you never know what will happen.

TSN: Jets keeping defence first mentality amid scoring struggles: ‘Stick with what we do well’The Jets have dropped three straight games and have scored just four goals combined in those losses. Despite the scoring struggles, Winnipeg is keeping the focus on being defence first and are confident they will start capitalizing on their chances again.
