Winnipeg Jets Afternoon Links

All the latest Winnipeg Jets news.

Note:  Reminder that tomorrow’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show on TSN 1290 Winnipeg will start bright and early at 8 AM and run until 11 AM as the early start time for the Jets and Hawks game pushes the show earlier.  In addition yours truly will be joining Ez and Drew to talk some puck.  Guests:  Mike Colligan (NHL analyst at Forbes SportsMoney and The Hockey Writers),  Jack Edwards (Play-by-play voice of the Boston Bruins on NESN) & Scott Powers (ESPN Chicago).

Note II:  Once again the Illegal Curve team will be getting behind this worthwhile cause.  This year Ezra and I will once again be growing mustaches and we are joined by Richard to help raise awareness.  If you would like to donate to our team, here is a link.  Here is a shot of mine and Ezra’s mustache at the end of Movember last year.

Jets news:

Winnipeg Free Press:  Jets will have hands full against Blackhawks.  When the defending Stanley Cup champs come to town it certainly is never going to be a light game.  The Jets are going to have to use every cliche in the book (play a 200 foot game, a full 60 minutes, etc etc) to pull off two points against this Hawks lineup.

Winnipeg Sun:  Jets ready to host defending champion Blackhawks.  It will be quite the contest as three former members of the Blackhawks are currently playing on the Jets and three members of the Hawks were born in Winnipeg.

Illegal Curve:  Coach Noel presser.  Assessment of the Hawks.  What does having success on the PP do for the team?  High number of penalties taken.  Execution in practice.  Injury update on Stuart (Won’t be a player tomorrow).  Is Peluso hurt?  Ben Chiarot talk.  Is Trouba working out?  New challenges for him as a coach?  What stage is this team at?  Facing better teams keeping team on their toes.

Illegal Curve:  Player audio from MTS Centre.  After practice audio from three former Hawks in Ladd, Byfuglien and Frolik.

Illegal Curve:  Morning PapersIf you missed any of the news this AM we have you covered.

Next opponent (Hawks) news:

ESPN Chicago:  Crawford reflects on Hawks’ play (video).  Goalie Corey Crawford reflects on the team’s play in October and looks forward to a busy month of traveling in November.

CSN Chicago:  A warm welcoming awaits Toews.  Just like Teemu had the first Ducks game circled on his calendar, you can bet Winnipegger Jonathan Toews marked off the first opportunity he will have to play here in a regular season game.
