Tanev was an undrafted free agent who broke in with the Jets in 2015-16, playing 195 games for the Jets, before departing as a free agent. He signed a six-year 21-million dollar deal with the Penguins as a UFA but was dealt after just a year and a half to Seattle where he has spent the last three seasons. He is in the final year of the deal and will be an unrestricted free agent at season’s end.
