Jets 2015 1st round pick Kyle Connor runner up for Hobey Baker Award

The final prize for the 2015-16 College hockey season was handed out today in Tampa, Florida on the eve of the final game of the year between North Dakota and Quinnipiac at the Frozen Four. Unfortunately for Jets fans, 2015 1st round pick Kyle Connor, who was up against was up against Thatcher Demko (Boston College) and Jimmy Vesey (Harvard University), did not win the Hobey Baker award.  Instead it went to Jimmy Vesey, a Nashville Predators draft pick.

We have documented Kyle Connor’s escapades all season long, which ended with a 27 game point streak to close out the year with the Wolverines.  In the end the forward finished with 35 goals and 36 assists for 71 points in 38 games (1.87 pts/gm average).  Those numbers were good enough for first overall in the entire NCAA and eight points up on his teammate with Michigan and fellow member of the CCM line, JT Compher.

Jets fans will remain focused with #ConnorWatch as they await his decision for next season.  Will he return to Ann Arbor for his sophomore year or might he sign his first professional contract and become a member of the Winnipeg Jets organization?

Worth noting that two former Wolverines who eventually signed with Winnipeg were Andrew Copp who signed on March 26th, 2015 (played three college seasons) and Jacob Trouba signed on April 2nd, 2013 (played one college season) with the Jets.
