For the second day in a row an Alberta product who was playing for the Winnipeg Ice has inked a deal with an AHL club. Today it was Connor McClennon‘s turn after his teammate Owen Pederson inked a two-year AHL deal with Providence. McClennon got himself a two-year deal with the Chicago Wolves.
McClennon was a 6th rounder back in 2020 by Philadelphia but the Flyers chose not to offer him a contract last June.
The winger had a very productive final season in junior with the Ice scoring 46 goals and adding 46 assists for 92 points in 64 games. He also had a very productive playoffs for the Ice finishing with 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points in 19 games as Winnipeg ultimately fell to Seattle in the WHL Championship.
In total he spent the last four seasons in Winnipeg with the Ice and like Pederson had his rookie campaign in Kootenay. He played a total of 243 games in junior with 138 goals and 146 assists for 284 points.
