Wheeler meets with Rangers brass

Rather, even as No. 68 told The Post that he hasn’t spoken to general manager Glen Sather since the May 6, post-elimination breakup day, the Blueshirts were attempting to entice 21-year-old Blake Wheeler into signing an Entry Level deal with the club.

Wheeler, whom the Coyotes selected fifth overall in the 2004 Entry Draft and who became an unrestricted free agent after rejecting a Phoenix contract offer last month, visited New York yesterday and took a tour of the club’s facilities, The Post has learned.

There have been varying opinions on Wheeler around the NHL, but what team wouldn’t want to add a talented youngster without giving anything up except for money? Expect Wheeler to visit with a lot of other teams before he makes his decision.

The Jets have gone from a team with seven injured players to two (Appleton & Gustafsson) but that number grew to three when defenceman Dylan DeMelo was added to the list.
