Atlantic Division
- The Devils’ unbeaten streak on the road came to an end last night in Philadelphia. The bright spot of last night’s game for New Jersey was the play of Patrik Elias.
- The Islanders beat Boston in Boston last night because of strong play from everyone on the roster, especially Matt Moulson.
- Wade Redden has been back to the team’s power play unit by coach John Tortorella. “I think he assessed his play last year, where he wants to play better. And I think he has. I think he’s been steady,” said Tortorella about Redden. With Alexander Ovechkin coming to town tonight, Larry Brooks thinks the Rangers will be facing important matchup issues.
- Last night was Dave “The Hammer” Schultz night in Philadelphia. Ray Emery outplayed Martin Brodeur on Monday night. Arron Asham got injured last night and will be out at least ten days.
- Bill Guerin led the way for the Penguins on Monday, as the team recorded its second consecutive win. The team’s power play also came around, writes Josh Yohe. Another injury has hit the Penguins, as defenseman Alex Goligoski is slated to be out for two to three weeks.
Northeast Division

Jason Blake wants his team to start paying the price to win. There are some new coaching threats from Leafs boss Ron Wilson.
Southeast Division
- Brandon Sutter was only supposed to be up with the big club for a week but it has been three weeks now and he’s looking to stay permanently. In injury news, Joni Pitkanen and Scott Walker won’t play tonight in Montreal.
- “I was happy with our game from our goalie out,” said Pet DeBoer after his team’s shootout loss to Los Angeles. The Cats may have lost in a shootout last night but the shootout has been beneficial to Florida, for the most part. The ownership switch in Florida has seen the team’s bosses stressing accountability.
- Bolts netminder Mike Smith made his best attempt to regain his starting role with his performance at Phoenix last night. Last night’s goal scoring came from players other than Steven Stamkos and Ryan Malone which is a good sign for Lightning fans. Here are Gary Bettman’s comments on the Lightning ownership situation.
- Capitals fans are jacked up that Alexander Ovechkin is scheduled to return to the lineup tonight.
