The Pierre-Luc Dubois trade chatter has heated up all day including some of the pieces that would be involved but that might not be the only bit of business the Jets get done.
On TSN Insider Trading from Nashville, Darren Dreger was asked about the steps involved regarding Blake Wheeler and a potential buyout:
“It’s headed towards a buyout. That’s the direction that the Winnipeg Jets are going with Blake Wheeler and that’s not at all news breaking. We’ve been speculating on that as other media have for several days now. But it is connected to the contract negotiations between the Winnipeg Jets and Pat Brission and Pierre-Luc Dubois as they get him to make an extension to travel over to the Los Angeles Kings. So it’s expected all of the dust is going to settle in the near future but it’s not quite done yet.”
He also spoke about the return:
“It also sounds like a boatload return for the Winnipeg Jets. Good work by Cheveldayoff in getting back Iafallo, Vilardi, Kupari, so three good young players and a 2nd round draft pick as well.”
