From Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News:

The Stars still are in on Sean Avery and were in the talks on Wade Redden, but they are shutting things down for the night, said Brett Hull, co-general manager.

Hull had Avery living over his garage when Avery was a rookie with the Red Wings back in 2002-03. so the two know each other pretty well. He declined the opportunity to explain why the Stars are interested, saying those things could be talked about if the Stars signed Avery.

The Stars were one of the teams rumored to be interested in Avery prior to free agency beginning this afternoon, so it is no surprise they are one of the teams he is negotiating with. If I had to guess, I’d say he is line for a 4 year, $16 million deal or a 5 year, $20 million deal.
