Sensational pro debut for Jets goalie prospect Domenic Divincentiis backstopping Manitoba Moose to 3-2 win over Wild

Recap of the game.

The Moose kicked off the 2024-25 season with a 6-4 win in a choppy first game of the season yesterday in Des Moines. They were back at it today looking for the series sweep.

Lineup news:

Only one change today as Manitoba swapped goalies with Domenic DiVincentiis got the net with Thomas Milic acting as backup.

Moose lineup:

Toninato-Lambert-AJF
Shaw-Zhilkin-Chibrikov
Suess-King-Ford
Liwiski-Nikkanen-Torgersson

Lundmark – Salomonsson
Kuzmin – Bauer
Sautner – Barteaux

Notable:

Pro debut for Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis.

Less than five minutes into the opening frame a perfect feed by Jets prospect Brad Lambert over to Dominic Toninato gave the Moose an early 1-0 lead. It was Toninato’s second goal of the season and Lambert’s third assist.

After that it was a trial by fire for DiVincentiis who made 16 saves on 17 shots in the first period and that theme continued in the middle frame as he stopped all 16 shots he faced with the Moose getting into penalty trouble including killing off a 5 on 3 which gave him 32 stops on 33 shots through 40.

What a first goal of the season by Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin (2022 3rd) as he wound up and went for it. That made it 2-1 for the Moose. Only issue for Manitoba is they gave up the game tying goal 44 seconds later.

Maybe somewhat fittingly it was former Wild forward Mason Shaw who scored the game-winning goal against his former team with 4:45 left in the 3rd period.

Impressive debut for Domenic DiVincentiis who would make a total of 37 saves on 39 shots to pick up his first ever win as a pro.
