post-game recap

Senators comeback to defeat the Jets 3-2 in OT as Winnipeg lets two points slip away

Recap of the game.

While the Jets gained a point they basically lost one as they should have been able to hold on for the victory. The OTL means they gained three of four in the final two games of this homestand which feels hollow. They fall to 15-15-2 and remain three back of a wild card spot.

Notable:

Dylan DeMelo moved ahead of Jacob Trouba into 13th on the All-Time Jets games played list with 409. Also game 150 for Gabriel Vilardi in a Winnipeg jersey.

Early in the 1st, Jets fans gave a big clap for the PK unit which was out for the entirety of a Mark Scheifele penalty. It was an impressive penalty kill by Winnipeg especially given Ottawa boasts the 5th best PP in the league.

Two very good chances (here & here) in the first period for Nino Niederreiter.

Seemed like if a goal was going to be scored by either team it was going to come from special teams since the first 30 minutes of the game featured a number of man advantages.

Sens opened the scoring just past the midpoint of the middle frame with the Jets not playing any defence.

Just under five minutes later Neal Pionk fired up the laser beam to tie the game for the Jets. His second of the season.

Celebrity look-a-like sure looks like Bombers Brady Oliveira who signed a three-year extension today. 😉

The Stanimal. Logan Stanley currently leads Jets defencemen in goals. Yes you are reading that correctly. CLC went wild.

Kyle Connor had a chance to clear it late in the 3rd period. He doesn’t and this game was tied.

Both teams had great chances in the first minute of OT and then a breakdown led to a Sens odd man rush which gave Brady Tkachuk a chance to wire home the OT GWG.

Multi Point Game:

None.
