Sabres sign Ryan Miller to five-year contract extension

The Buffalo Sabres re-signed goaltender Ryan Miller to a five-year, $31.25 million contract extension on Friday.

Entering the final year of his current contract this season, Miller will now remain the club’s franchise netminder through the 2013-2014 season.

No surprise here. As I said just under two weeks ago, the speculation that he was headed to Detroit was overblown. Now that he is entrenched as the number one netminder in Buffalo for the foreseeable future, Sabres fans can rest easy.
