There was concern about offer sheets all summer long but in the end the Jets got RFA sniper Patrik Laine signed to a new two-year deal with an Average Annual Value of $6.75 million per season.  Darren Dreger of TSN was the first to break the news.

As per Craig Custance of The Athletic the deal looks like this:

Year 1: $6 million
Year 2: $7.5 million

This means that Laine’s qualifying offer for his next deal with Winnipeg will start at $7.5 million.

The Jets drafted Laine with the 2nd overall pick at the 2016 NHL Draft in Buffalo.  Laine had a bit of a down season (by his lofty standards) last year “only” scoring 30 goals.  Of course 18 of those goals did come in November.  In total the Finnish sniper has 110 goals in 237 games for the Jets over the past three seasons.

Update:  The Jets have made it official.

Update II:  Hear Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff who spoke about the new deal for his sniper.

The Jets remain off but both the Moose and Ice are in action tomorrow.

Manitoba will be in Milwaukee to take on the Admirals.

Ice will be in Brandon to take on the Wheat Kings.
