Pre-season Game 1: Oilers 4 Jets 0 post-game recap

The Jets were in Edmonton to kick off the pre-season against the Oilers. It was a younger lineup brought to Alberta as the club looks to evaluate a number of players early in training camp.

Notable:

Jets fans were introduced to new play by play voice Dan Robertson who made the news official that he would be replacing Dennis Beyak who retired after 11 seasons.

Folks didn’t have to wait long for the opening goal of the pre-season as Edmonton beat David Rittich early off a Logan Stanley giveaway which ended up in the back of the net on the first shot of the game for the Oilers just 41 seconds into the first period.

Nothing really much happened after the opening goal of the game or during the second period.

Oilers scored three goals quickly in the third period (including two in 27 seconds) to blow open the game.

As would be expected with the first game back it was sloppy for periods of time. Pretty hard to evaluate the players.
