OTB: Trade Deadline Eve

What team beat writers and bloggers are saying on the eve of the trade deadline:

  • Nikolai Antropov and Dominic Moore are not dressing tonightWhy risk injuring a trade asset?
  • Al Balderas wants the Ducks to trade Scott Niedermayer for his own benefit.  I understand the point but I don’t think Niedermayer wants to go anywhere.

  • The Flames have claimed Lawrence Nycholat off waivers.  Sutter compares him to Giordano.
  • Some Avs players didn’t practice todayConspiracy theorists are out.

  • Tom Preissing has cleared waivers for the Kings.  They really don’t need his services anymore.
  • With Niklas Backstrom re-signed, the Wild is in no rush to deal Josh Harding.  Harding should get moved at the draft.
  • John Tortorella on how Sean Avery will enjoy the Rangers system.  Until Avery takes the first of many dumb penalties.
  • Apparently the Senators were asking for too much in return for Jarkko Ruutu.  Why didn’t the Pens just re-sign him in the first place?
