What team beat writers and bloggers are saying on the eve of the trade deadline:
- Nikolai Antropov and Dominic Moore are not dressing tonight. Why risk injuring a trade asset?
- Al Balderas wants the Ducks to trade Scott Niedermayer for his own benefit. I understand the point but I don’t think Niedermayer wants to go anywhere.
- Rumors circulating that Martin Biron is going back to Buffalo. Sounds feasible, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
- The Flames have claimed Lawrence Nycholat off waivers. Sutter compares him to Giordano.
- Some Avs players didn’t practice today. Conspiracy theorists are out.
- The Jay Bouwmeester story less than 24 hours before the deadline. I still think they have to deal him.
- Tom Preissing has cleared waivers for the Kings. They really don’t need his services anymore.
- With Niklas Backstrom re-signed, the Wild is in no rush to deal Josh Harding. Harding should get moved at the draft.
- John Tortorella on how Sean Avery will enjoy the Rangers system. Until Avery takes the first of many dumb penalties.
- Apparently the Senators were asking for too much in return for Jarkko Ruutu. Why didn’t the Pens just re-sign him in the first place?
- Lots of injuries in Sharks land. Wilson says he won’t make any reactionary moves here.
- Michael Nylander has been scratched again by the Capitals. They want to trade him badly.
- Which prospects could be available at the deadline? They do good work over at Coming Down the Pipe.
- Lowetide’s take on what could happen with the Oilers. It is going to be a more interesting off-season for Edmonton than trade deadline in my opinion.
- Could the Thrashers be dangling Kari Lehtonen. They do have Pavelec in the minors.
- Is the NHL Network pulling a bad move? Don’t get that.
