On the Beat: Not much of a beat

Well, there aren’t many beat articles today because players are off on vacation, so we will mix some beat stories with other interesting stories from early this afternoon:

  • The players have decided to not re-open the CBA.  Imagine if they decided to re-open…
  • Read about the almost fist fight that was Don Cherry versus Gary Green in a hotel lobby.  Apparently Ron MacLean and Paul Romaniuk were called for backup.
  • James Mirtle has beef with the Predators.  You can’t allow a team to buy its own tickets.
  • Stan Fischler with the Fischler ReportGood reading.
  • Pat LaFontaine has always been a class-act on and off the ice, so reading this shouldn’t surprise you.  Few players meet his level of class.
  • Jeremy Roenick calls out Sidney Crosby.  Hat tip to Empty Netters for the find.  As for my take, I don’t agree with Roenick but I do like the fact that he gives his opinion.  The NHL needs more players who are honest and up front like JR.  The classic “stick to the system” blah, blah, blah answers are beyond boring.
