On the Beat: Lineups, Predictions and Ovechkin

What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:

  • The Michigan ties are flowing for the Ducks.  We’ll see if that helps the younger Ducks feel more comfortable.
  • Same lineup as yesterday for the Bruins.  Remember Marco Sturm? Imagine if he was in there too.
  • Here is the Hurricanes lineup from practice today. Same combos we saw against Jersey.
  • Eric Staal is welcoming the Zdeno Chara challenge.  How can you not love the way Staal has played these playoffs?  He has been unbelievable.
  • Tim Sassone of the Chicago Daily Herald picks the Canucks to winWatch the emails start flooding in Tim.  While Sassone has the Canucks, Bruce Garrioch takes the Hawks.
  • Patrick Marleau was playing hurt during the first round.  So, what’s the excuse for the rest of that team?
  • No Ovechkin at Capitals practice today.  Relax, he’s just taking some time off.
  • Some quotes from John Tortorella as he heads out of town.  Always interesting.
  • The Devils/Canes series did big ratings in the NY/NJ area.  Good to see; especially considering that series was the most exciting one of round one.
