What team beat writers are saying this afternoon:
Stanley Cup Final
- Today is a lucky day in Penguins history. They should only be so lucky tonight.
- No lineup changes for Detroit tonight. They just demolished the Penguins, so no reason to change anything.
Everyone else
- Aaron Portzline takes a look at the Avalanche heading into the off-season. Not pretty in Denver right now.
- Rich Hammond tells us that Jack Johnson is not asking for $5.5 million per season. Well, I certainly hope he isn’t because he won’t be playing in the NHL anytime soon.
- Michael Russo starts the Jacques Lemaire to New Jersey speculation. Makes sense doesn’t it? Granted I’m not sure how happy a player like Zach Parise would be about that news…
- The Predators players are not yet revolting against the “jock tax.” It is amazing what lengths the state will go to generate revenue.
- More on the resignation of Brent Sutter from the Devils. He may get flack in some corners, but give him credit for putting family first.
- Does Dany Heatley want out of Ottawa? To be honest, I’m not so sure the Senators aren’t interested in giving Heatley what he wants. The team can get a fairly nice return for him and can get somewhat of a new look inside that room. That team played well at the end of last season, but Heatley wasn’t exactly engaged all season long and Ottawa may want their top players to demonstrate more intensity and leadership.
