Oilers and Glencross talks back on

From the Edmonton Sun:

The Edmonton Oilers and Curtis Glencross are talking again.

The two sides had been miles apart and weren’t even negotiating anymore – seemingly resigned to the fact that Glencross would explore the open market as an unrestricted free agent July 1 – but they’re back at the table, having been spurred on by Tuesday’s story in The Sun.

In the article, both sides admitted they hadn’t spoken in weeks and had no plans to make the first move. But seeing how close they were to letting everything go down the drain was enough to get them back on the phone lines.

They’re talking to each other, but that’s it. With the Oilers bunkered up in preparation for the NHL draft, director of hockey administration Rick Olczyk wouldn’t comment. Glencross’s agent Dave Kaye is lying low as well.

There are really no details on whether the two sides are close or not, but talking is better than not talking. We’ll see if something gets done before July 1.
