Nikolaj Ehlers enjoys his day with the Stanley Cup in Denmark

The former Winnipeg Jets winger rolled into his hometown of Aalborg in a yellow Lamborghini along with the Stanley Cup.

It was a hero’s welcome for former Winnipeg Jets winger Nikolaj Ehlers in his hometown of Aalborg, Denmark, as he rolled through the city in a yellow Lamborghini with the Stanley Cup after helping the Carolina Hurricanes capture the franchise’s second championship.

Ehlers made an immediate impact in the first season of the six-year contract he signed with Carolina in July 2025. The speedy winger set a new career high with more than 70 points during the regular season before adding 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 18 playoff games. He also elevated his game on the biggest stage, recording four goals and five assists in six Stanley Cup Final contests.

Around 4,000 fans turned out to celebrate Ehlers’ Day with the Cup in Aalborg at Sparekassen Danmark Arena as per the NHL. He was also honoured by Mayor Lasse Frimand Jensen earlier in the day. You can watch highlights from the celebration, in the video posted by NHL Europe.

Ehlers spent the first 10 years of his NHL career in Winnipeg, making him one of the most popular players of the Jets 2.0 era. While his Stanley Cup triumph came with Carolina, many fans who watched him develop into a star were happy to see him finally reach hockey’s mountaintop.
