Some news and notes covering the latest hockey news from across the blogs:

  • Puck Update:  Tortorella re-invents the Rangers.  Love him or hate him, he puts his stamp on a team
    Torts
  • Thrashers Blog:  For Thrashers goalie, the more shots the better.  Good Q & A with Thrashers goaltender Ondrej Pavelec
  • Frozen Leafs:  How come the Leafs are such a mess already. It would appear that the playoffs predictions were a tad premature.
  • Stanley Cup of Chowder:  Bruins special teams play not so special.  Going to have to get this fixed if they want to compete for top spot in the East.
  • The Hockey News:  History proves that the Gonchar contract isn’t so bad.  Further proof that it is difficult to judge a contract the moment it is signed.
  • Lighthouse Hockey:  10 days in, Tavares has delivered as billed.  Good to see that he has had some early success.
  • Flyers Goal Scored By:  Deer hunting with Bernie Parent via eBay.  For the low, low price of $375 you can shoot up some deer with the former Flyer great
    Bernie
  • Matchsticks & Gasoline:  Now what.  Looked at my Blackberry Score application and saw the Flames were up 5-1 and assumed, game over.  Got back to see the score tied, watched OT and Flames lose.  Wow.
  • Lowetide:  The long and winding road taken by Oilers goalie prospect Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers.  Seems he is in a similar position as the Wings Jimmy Howard, who Wings fans have waited forever to develop into that big time tender that can play at the NHL level.
  • NHL Fanhouse:  Columbus jumps out to fast start in Central.  Hitchcock is a very good coach.
  • Anaheim Calling:  An intro to a new Ducks blog.  Good to see that the Ducks are getting some additional online representation.
  • Canucks Hockey:  Molson builds the mother of all hockey houses.  Sounds incredible.

  • The Hockey Writers:  NHL’s Top 10 most effective sin bin dwellers.   Good list.
  • the Score:  NHL rumour roundup.  I’m sure Caps fans will be happy to have any of Nylander’s salary off the books, even if it isn’t the entire $4.875 million cap hit his salary merits.

Jon Hamm from Mad Men loves the St. Louis Blues:
