It was a night of mixed emotions at Canada Life Centre. Having already clinched the Central Division, the Winnipeg Jets needed just two points or to have the Capitals not get two points in order to secure the Presidents’ Trophy. The two points came thanks to the Columbus Blue Jackets who defeated the Washington Capitals 4-1.
On a celebratory night, the Jets went on to lose 4-1 to the Edmonton Oilers and endure a major injury scare in the process.

“Guys should be real proud of it,” Scott Arniel said after the game. “But at the end of the day, it’s not the trophy we’re after. We’re proud of it. If and when we get to the Stanley Cup Finals, we get home-ice advantage as well. There is something to it.”
It has been an incredible season full of positive storylines. Connor Hellebuyck vying for MVP, the power play is the best in the league, the core players on the Jets are having career years, and players such as Dylan Samberg and Cole Perfetti are enjoying breakout seasons, among many other developments.
It has been a special regular season for the Jets.
Dylan Samberg looks to be okay
The news wasn’t all good on this night as Dylan Samberg exited with an injury after blocking a Connor McDavid one-timer, which appeared to hit the inside of his knee.

Scott Arniel provided reporters with positive news after the game.
“He’s okay. We’ll see, checking on him tomorrow. But I think he’ll be okay.”
Arniel didn’t shy away from saying it was a big relief to hear that news as well.
“Oh yeah, big time.”
For Jets fans searching for more of an update on the likes of Samberg, Ehlers, and other injured players, Arniel listed everyone as day-to-day with more information to come on Tuesday.
“Everybody’s day to day,” Arniel said. “We’re just gonna kinda figure everybody out here. We just came off a road trip here, got in late last night. Haven’t got all the results on everybody yet. We’ll have some more information probably on Tuesday.”
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs just under a week away, the Jets will spend the next week getting as healthy as possible for Game 1.
