- Eric Francis notes that the Flames are teetering on the brink of the NHL elite. He has a nomination for creepiest quote of the year, and I have to agree “when Roberto Luongo made the following declaration following one of his last practices before returning to the lineup: “I pounded it pretty hard, and the groin is feeling fine”…nice.
- Mike Cammalleri has reached the 20 goal plateau for the Flames. Surprisingly, Jarome Iginla is lagging behind with 18, including two goals in the last fourteen.
- Ryan Smyth and Milan Hejduk each hit milestones last night, scoring their 300th career goals respectively.
- With Rick Nash returning to the lineup, the Blue Jackets were able to make up a two goal deficit to defeat the Canucks in a shootout.
- The Canucks were unable to finish off the Blue Jackets last night, and are now on a seven game home losing streak (a franchise record). Mats Sundin thinks the Canucks need to keep the puck out of their own net (duh!)
- The Oilers honoured Glenn Anderson last night before the game, and then went on to defeat the Coyotes 6-3. Ethan Moreau recorded his first career hat-trick and first multiple point game of the season.
