The Moose were winners of four of their last five games including yesterday against the IceHogs which saw them start on time and roll to a 4-1 victory. They were looking to close out the homestand with another win before heading on the road next week for the final two games before the AHL All-Star break.
Lineup news:
Only change was in net as DiVincentiis came in for Milic.
Moose lineup:
Shaw – Gustafsson- Chibrikov
Lambert – Ford – Di Giuseppe
Julien– Yager – JAD
Barlow – Zhilkin – Fagemo
Heinola – Barteaux
Anhorn– Clague
Sautner – Bauer
DiVincentiis
Notable:
Just like yesterday the Moose struck quickly in the 1st to open the scoring and somewhat shockingly it was on the PP. Jets prospect Brayden Yager gets his fifth of the season.
Another Moose power play but this time it’s Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis who needs to come up big with a save on former Manitoba captain Domenic Toninato.
David Gustafsson with his 8th of the season after he puts away the rebound off the shot from captain Mason Shaw to make it 2-0 for the home team. Another point for Dylan Anhorn who has four assists in his last five games. Refs reviewed for some reason rather than calling it a goal on the ice.
Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov has had all sorts of chances this weekend for the Moose including this one but his countryman, Stanislav Berezhnoy says nyet.
In the 2nd and 3rd period the Moose needed their netminder as they were outshot 27-11 over the final 40 minutes. But other than one goal DiVincentiis was stellar stopping 32 of 33 shots he faced.
Not quite as tidy as yesterday’s win but the Moose take it 2-1 over the IceHogs to sweep their weekend set against their central division rival. Gives them five wins in last six games.
With the victory they improve to 22-15-3 on the season.
