Moose show some fight but special teams doom them as IceHogs take it 7-3

Recap of the game.

The Moose split their weekend set last week against the Wild which saw them win bigly on Friday (6-0) and then lose bigly on Sunday (6-1). They spent the last week trying to get reset as they looked to welcome the IceHogs to town.

Lineup news:

No Elias Salomonsson as he missed the game due to illness. Still no Colby Barlow as the Jets prospect was viewed as a possible player for a game this weekend.

Moose lineup:

Lambert – Yager – Fagemo
Di Giuseppe – Ford – Chibrikov
Shaw – Gustafsson- Duehr
Empey – Zhilkin – JAD

Phillips – Clague
Heinola – Bauer
Sautner – Frisch

Milic

Notable:

The game got off to a rough start as the IceHogs took a lead just 28 seconds into the game. Milic made the initial save but the rebound squeaked through and Brett Seney put it home.

It was all Sweden on this goal as Samuel Fagemo got his 8th of the season from David Gustafsson. He beat former Jets goalie Laurent Brossoit to tie the game for the Moose.

Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin set a new career high for points as he tied the game for the Moose.

After allowing three goals on 11 shots in the 1st the Moose started the 2nd period with Thomas Milic on the bench. Second straight game he gets the hook after 20. Domenic DiVincentiis comes into the game for the middle frame with Manitoba down 3-2.

Just two seconds into the Moose power play they tie the game as David Gustafsson buried the rebound off the Phil Di Giuseppe blast.

A Tyrel Bauer fight just hits differently (pun intended) as he and Dillon Boucher drop the gloves for this no defence needed tilt.

They lost defenceman Ethan Frisch who had to be helped off the ice.

After tying the game early in the 2nd the Moose gave up four straight (two in 2nd and two in 3rd) to lose to the IceHogs 7-3. They gave up 3 power play goals and a shorthanded marker. They did have a goal disallowed when down 5-3.

The Moose lose consecutive games for the first time since early November. They are 14-11-2-0 which puts them in 3rd spot in the Central.
