The Moose were set to wrap up their regular season with a final game in Texas for the second consecutive year. The difference this year season is they aren’t moving on to the playoffs.
Lineup news:
Just a few changes for the Moose as Phillips and Coghlan came in on the backend with Anhorn and Bauer coming out. Up front Malmquist was out and Empey was in although they did change up the composition of lines two and four from the previous game.
Lines & D pairs:
Wagner– Zhilkin –Shaw
AJF – Vitelli – Gengenbach
Walton – Suess– King
Liwiski – Conley – Empey
Sautner–Salomonsson
Phillips – Coghlan
Barteaux – Lundmark
DiVincentiis
Notable:
Defenceman Dylan Coghlan scored his 12th goal in just 36th game on a Moose 5 on 3 which turned out to be the GWG. Pretty impressive when you consider that’s a half season total.
Speaking of impressive the progression of Jets prospect Fabian Wagner (2022 6th) who came over from Sweden somewhat unexpectedly in November, had just two assists in his first 31 games and then finished the final 20 contests with eight goals and three assists. He had the primary assist on Coghlan’s game-winner.
Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis made 26 saves, including this one, for his first ever shutout as a pro. Been a big year of development for the Ontario product who started in the AHL as part of the youngest goalie tandem in the league, was sent down to the ECHL where he excelled with Norfolk and then ended the year in the AHL as the Moose starter.
