Notable:
Moment of silence here in Winnipeg for Winnipegger Paul Jerrard who passed away a few days ago.
After giving up the first goal of the game from the first shot of the game by Iowa courtesy of an early PP the home team took over the first period but Wild goalie Jesper Wallstedt was excellent.
Leading scorer Alex Limoges took a big hit in the opening period and looked a bit worse for wear after it. He didn’t come back for the 2nd period and there wasn’t an update on his status after the game.
Portage la Prairie’s Dean Stewart took a nice stroll up main street which eventually led to a Jeff Malott shot which was deflected in either off (or by) Dominic Toninato to tie the game. (Originally the goal was credited to Malott).
Early in the 3rd period Jansen Harkins 12th goal of the season would prove to be the game-winner.
Jets D prospect Tyrel Bauer showed off his physicality with this sealing of the wall.
Each period the Moose heavily outshot the Wild: 1st: 11-5. 2nd: 14-3. 3rd: 13-7 and the final frame ended with Iowa getting the final four shots of the game because Manitoba was killing off a double-minor.
It was an impressive performance for the Moose who have won their fourth straight game defeating the Wild 2-1 and outshooting them 38-15.
They’ve got point in five straight (4-0-1-0) as they improve to 26-16-3-2.
