The Jets sent longtime goalie Ondrej Pavelec down to their minor league team Manitoba to play with the Moose as they got ready to kick start the 2016-17 season. It was expected that Hutchinson/Hellebuyck would be the tandem and Pavelec would share the goaltending responsibilities down on the farm with Jets goalie prospect Eric Comrie.
However an injury to the LA Kings Jonathan Quick (with speculation that it could be a long term situation) has some folks wondering if the Jets longtime goalie might be California Dreamin sooner rather than later (and I don’t mean because Manitoba plays in San Diego in November).
According to Dennis Bernstein of The Fourth Period:
Of course the Kings are right up against the salary cap so it would require some creativity. Then again, Dennis did say the team was kicking tires, so it may not be anything more than a phone call.
