Manitoba Moose wrap up six-game road trip with 2-1 shootout loss to the Toronto Marlies

Recap of the game.

The Moose were looking to close out the six-game road trip with a victory in Toronto.

Lineup news:

Only two changes from the game yesterday in Belleville as Jets goalie prospect DiVincentiis got the net from Kaapo Kahkonen and Dylan Anhorn came in for Dawson Barteaux on the backend.

Lines & D pairs:

Shaw– Toninato –AJF
Golder – Lambert – Wagner
Suess – King – Empey
Liwiski – Zhilkin – Chyzowski

Sautner – Salomonsson
Phillips – Lundmark
Anhorn – Bauer

DiVincentiis

Notable:

Jets prospect Brad Lambert thought he opened the scoring for the Moose on the power play but the goal was called back for goalie interference. Watching replay and it sure didn’t seem like Mason Shaw was even in the blue paint.

This one did count as Mason Shaw was well outside the blue paint as he puts home the rebound opportunity. Moose led 1-0 over the Marlies.

Moose captain Dominic Toninato left looking skyward as he tried to give the visitors a lead on the power play in the middle frame. Would have been his fourth straight game with a goal for Manitoba.

Jets prospect Danny Zhilkin with a big hit in his hometown as he lays the body in the neutral zone.

Jets prospect Elias Salomonsson with a glorious chance to give the Moose a lead but no dice.

Goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis with the stop on the breakaway to keep the game between the Moose and Marlies tied in the 3rd. And when he wasn’t making the stops he was getting some help from his crossbar.

Somehow this puck didn’t end up in the back of the Moose net in OT.

As time expired a Marlies player tossed Moose captain Dominic Toninato to the ground. That drew a reaction from his teammates. Eventually it appears to subside but for some reason the officials allow the players to continue to congregate and it starts anew.

After the Marlies scored on their first couple of attempts the Moose needed Jets prospect Brad Lambert to score in order to keep the shootout going. No dice.

With the shootout loss the Moose wrap up their six-game road trip with a 3-2-0-1 record.
