The Moose are coming off a disappointing loss yesterday morning in the school day game to the Admirals which kicked off the homestand with a 4-0 loss. It also allowed Milwaukee to get within five points of Manitoba in the standings which made this re-match a critical game as it had the possibility of getting that separation back to seven or potentially down to three.
Not yet ready:
While he took part in his first Moose skate today, Jets prospect Alfons Freij didn’t participate in the game as he hasn’t skated since he last played in the SHL last Saturday night. He did speak this morning which you can watch here.
Lineup news:
Chase Yoder came in for Fabian Wagner. Thomas Milic got a chance at redemption after he allowed four goals yesterday on 23 shots.
Moose lineup:
JAD-Zhilkin-Fagemo
Shaw-Ford-Duehr
Chibrikov-Yager-Di Giuseppe
Yoder-Julien-Barlow
Sautner-Bauer
Phillips-Anhorn
Clague-Barteaux
Milic
Notable:
The Moose were able to strike first and early courtesy of Samuel Fagemo‘s team leading 16th goal of the season which came just over a minute into this hockey game.
Then about 12 minutes later they added another one as Phil Di Giuseppe got his 11th to give the Moose a 2-0 lead.
The home team would add to that total when Nikita Chibrikov got his 5th of the season to give Manitoba a commanding 3-0 lead in the 2nd period.
That score would hold until the Thomas Milic shutout bid was broken just past the midpoint of the 3rd period.
The Moose would hold on for a 3-1 victory getting them back to seven points up on the Admirals and they jumped back into a tie with the Stars for 3rd in the Central with Manitoba having one game in hand on Texas.
Multi-point game:
Nikita Chibrikov 1G 1A
Phil Di Giuseppe 1G 1A
