Manitoba Moose Practice Report

The Moose prepare for a short week as they get set to face the Griffins on Thursday.

The Moose are coming off a very disappointing weekend that saw them fail to bring the momentum from their five-game road trip (4-0-1) back to Manitoba where they were beaten by the Marlies on Friday and Sunday by a combined score of 8-0. They also lost Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov to a leg injury so we will have to wait and see what his status is. There is also the question about the progress of another Jets prospect as Elias Salomonsson continues to work his way back from an upper-body injury suffered back on December 6th.

Skate news:

No surprise that Nikita Chibrikov is not skating today with the group but as you can see from the photo Elias Salomonsson has joined the group in yellow, non-contact.

Everyone else is present and accounted for as near as I can tell. Which probably means Jets captain Adam Lowry is doing better after missing last two periods of the game in Utah last night. The Jets cancelled practice but if they needed someone you’d think they’d have made the recall.

Lines and D pairs:

Health update:

It’s bad news on Jets prospect Nikita Chibrikov who will be out long-term with the lower-body injury he suffered in the game on Sunday as per head coach Mark Morrison. With respect to Elias Salomonsson he won’t play this two-game set against Grand Rapids which gets underway on Thursday. The Manitoba bench boss said today was first day he’s done drills with the team since he sustained the injury and he’s hopeful that he comes on the road trip and “maybe we get him in a game there”.

Up next:

The team will have another day of practice tomorrow.
