Manitoba Moose kick off quick two-game homestand with 3-2 win over the Toronto Marlies

Recap of the game.

The Moose were coming off a road trip which saw them go 1-1-1 as they try to gain ground in the Central Division. They came into tonight’s game tied with the Stars for 3rd spot but with games in hand. Of course having games in hand are only as good as what you do with them.

Lineup news:

Still no David Gustafsson who missed his fourth straight game. Walker Duehr and Isaak Phillips back in the fold after playing three games with the Jets. Brad Lambert up with the big club.

Moose lineup:

Shaw – Ford – Di Giuseppe
Barlow – Wagner – Duehr
Julien – Yager – Chibrikov
JAD – Zhilkin – Fagemo

Sautner – Bauer
Clague – Barteaux
Phillips – Anhorn

DiVincentiis

Notable:

After the Jets got him out of the grocery store to play last night against the Lightning, Issak Phillips is back with the Moose and opened the scoring with his sixth of the year.

Finding themselves down by a goal in the 2nd, the Moose finally struck on the power play with Jets prospect Brayden Yager getting this one to go from long range. It was his 8th of the year and second in last three games.

Jets goalie prospect Domenic DiVincentiis gets over during the Marlies 2 on 1 to keep the game tied.

Some festivities at the end of the 2nd as the Moose and Marlies getting familiar.

Moose take a 3rd period lead as Ashton Sautner shoots this one from Flin Flon to make it 3-2 for Manitoba. It’s his second goal of the season.

This guy was vibing at the Moose game.

And the Moose would take it 3-2 as they defeat the Marlies to take the first game of this two-game set. The victory improves Manitoba to 25-19-5-1 which gives them sole possession of 3rd in the Central by two points and with two games in hand on Texas.
