Despite the fact that the Assiniboine Park and Zoo has never before had a Moose enclosure (at least during my lifetime) they had quite a few Moose running loose today.
The Manitoba Moose and the Assiniboine Park and Zoo had a promo today which worked well as it was Louis Riel Day as well as the fact that the temps were hovering around zero degrees. Fans had a chance to meet members of the AHL squad for about a hour and a half this afternoon. The players were spread throughout the Journey to Churchill exhibit.

All the Moose attended today’s promo.

Captain John Albert presented a Moose jersey and a Polar Bear jersey to the director of the Assiniboine Park and Zoo.

Jay Harrison reading a book about polar bears to some young kids.

Lots of fans showed up and players stuck around to sign everything.

Even Mick E. Moose showed up.
The Moose continue to do a number of events in the community and it is clear from their crowds at the MTS Centre (9th in average attendance in the AHL; 9,000 and 10,000 in their two matinee games this past weekend) that they have become a hit in the community.
