Last year the AHL scheduled was released on July 11th and similarly they have released the full season schedule today. Yesterday we learned that the Moose would open the season on October 5th against division rival Iowa Wild and their home opener would be October 12th against the Belleville Senators.
A quick look at the Moose schedule has them playing as follows:
Central – 48 games
Within their division they play five teams (Grand Rapids, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Antonio and Texas) eight (8) times while they play two teams (Iowa and Rockford) four (4) times. This includes 17 of the first 19 games of the season.
Pacific – 16 games
They will face Bakersfield, Colorado, San Diego and Stockton four times each. Colorado is the new team in the AHL and were formerly the Jets ECHL affiliate and will be visiting Winnipeg for the first time on December 30th and the always fun New Years Eve game. San Diego is the new home of former Jets draft pick/Moose forward Chase De Leo while Stockton is the new home of Buddy Robinson who played last season here in Manitoba. Of course both De Leo and Robinson will be hoping they are up with the NHL clubs (Anaheim/Calgary) respectively but they could be returning to MTS Place at some point next season. If not in the AHL De Leo is here March 17th and 19th while Robinson would be here April 6th and 7th.
North – 12 games
The Moose will play the three other Canadian teams (Laval, Toronto and Belleville) four (4) times each.
