Leafs Re-Sign Matt Stajan

The Toronto Maple Leafs have re-signed forward Matt Stajan to a two-year deal worth $3.5 million.

Stajan, 24, scored a career-high 16 goals last season and was one of only three Leafs to play in each of the 82 regular season matches. Jason Blake and Tomas Karberle were the others. Stajan’s salary of $1.75-million will make his the 11th highest paid player with Toronto, just behind Nik Antropov ($2.05-million) and ahead of Alexander Steen ($1.7-million)

This signing appears to be one of the few things the Leafs have done correctly this summer. Stajan isn’t flashy, but he shows up to play every night and has been signed to a reasonable contract.
