Latest update on Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg who broke his foot in Nashville 10 days ago

Latest from the head coach on number 54.

Ten days back in Nashville defenceman Dylan Samberg blocked a Steven Stamkos slap shot on the power play and miraculously got up to try to help his team continue to try to kill off the penalty. The result of the play we later found out was a broken foot.

If you missed it this was the play:

After the game head coach Scott Arniel said Samberg would return to Winnipeg for further assessment.

During his media availability following morning skate today Scott Arniel was asked for an update and he had this to say.

“It’s broken. He’s actually walking around. He has a boot on but he’s walking around without the boot sometimes. I don’t know if he’s allowed to do that or not but actually the swelling’s gone down quite a bit. But he has a broken bone so that just has to heal.”

Asked if there is any more clarity on a timeline he added:

“Usually on broken bones you’ll get to four weeks and we’ll take it from there.”

The four week mark is around December 21st but again that just seems to be a starting point for us to have that discussion with the head coach for an update more than any sort of hard date.
