Latest on Winnipeg Jets defenceman Dylan Samberg who is working way back from broken foot

The Minnesotan was back on the ice today skating on his own ahead of practice.

Back on December 20th Jets head coach Scott Arniel said he thought Dylan Samberg, who has been out with a broken foot since November 23rd, could hit the ice today for a skate as he continues to take his next steps in returning to the lineup.

The team twitter account tweeted before today’s practice at hockey for all centre that the big Minnesotan was indeed skating by himself ahead of practice.

After the skate concluded head coach Scott Arniel was asked for an update and had this to say:

“It’ll be a while just doing that. I can’t tell you if it’s five days or 10 days. He’s going to be on the ice and just kind of gradually how he feels. The one big thing is putting that boot on, the comfort of having his boot on and hopefully there’s no swelling or anything like that that comes from it. Just everyday would be kind of re-evaluating, talk to him and see where he’s going to move forward.”

The expectation was he wouldn’t be ready until the new year and the good news for Jets fans, despite the murkiness of the timeline, is he is one step closer to returning given his being back on the ice.
