Alex Kovalev is still a Montreal Canadien and apparently ready to resume practising with the NHL team on Friday.

This situation is getting more bizarre by the day. While Kovalev was only scheduled to sit out the next two games (the Habs play Pittsburgh tonight), the fact that he is rejoining the team after such a short time makes this move somewhat puzzling. Were the Habs simply trying to wake Kovalev up? If so, do you even want a player on your team that requires a two-game hiatus to begin producing again? Or are the Habs trying to trade him and now putting him in the lineup to put him on display for other teams?
Whatever the answers are to these questions, the situation in Montreal is becoming all the more confusing to people on the outside. What’s next is certainly anyone’s guess but it will be newsworthy regardless of what happens.
I guess we’ll get to hear what Kovalev has to say tomorrow after practice. I’m sure there won’t be any media at that outing…….
