The Winnipeg Jets have inked forward Kyle Wellwood to a one-year deal for $1.6 million. Wellwoods 47 points last season was good enough for fifth on the Jets, and his $1.6 million contract is a considerable raise from last years $700,000.

Wellwood was a nice fit last year on the Jets, his 47 points were a career high. This is another good low risk, low term signing by GM Kevin Cheveldayoff, Wellwood certainly earned his raise after his performance last season.

Expect to hear more about the signing on tomorrow’s Illegal Curve Hockey Show airing from 9am to 11am on TSN Radio 1290.
