While the Jets won game 5 last night to give themselves an important 3-2 series edge over the Blues, they lost top line centre Mark Scheifele after the 1st period.
He was on the receiving end of numerous hits the biggest of which was delivered by St. Louis captain Brayden Schenn but he also took a big one at the Blues blueline when he made contact with Radek Faksa.
Here was the Schenn one:

And here was the one with Faksa:
Monty on Scheifele injury: “Let’s make it clear — No. 55 (Scheifele) got hurt from the Faksa hit. He played six minutes after the Schenn hit. He didn’t come back after he got rocked by Faksa.”

After the game Blues head coach Jim Montgomery offered up this perspective of how the injury to Mark Scheifele occurred:
Blues coach Jim Montgomery’s post-game comments with respect to Mark Scheifele.
These were not particularly well received by Jets head coach Scott Arniel.

Which was followed by this response from Jets head coach Scott Arniel who was none too pleased with his counterpart:
Jets coach Scott Arniel not mincing words post-game about Mark Scheifele injury:
“I didn’t know Monty got his medical degree trying to say how our player got hurt. He’s way off base. He should not make that comment”

Worth noting that Scheifele played until the end of the 1st period. His last shift came in the final minute which was a few minutes after the Faksa hit.
We may get an update on 55 at 12:15 pm today when the Jets bench boss speaks before the team heads off to St. Louis for game 6.
