The big news on Tuesday was the Jets announcing the signing of Dylan DeMelo to a four-year contract extension. He joined Cam Poitras and Jim Toth on Jets at Noon today to discuss his new deal which gets underway at the 10:27 mark to about the 23 minute mark.

DeMelo was asked why he chose to forgo free agency and choose to sign an extension with Winnipeg:
“There’s so much that goes into it. Frst and foremost the fit in Winnipeg has been fantastic ever since I’ve been acquired there from Ottawa on and off the ice. My wife and I and my son, we really have enjoyed our time living in Winnipeg and our community has been fantastic”
In addition to the above quote he went on to say his neighbours are amazing people, who they’ll remain connected to even after he’s done playing hockey.
He also praised the team and playing alongside Josh Morrissey as well as “playing in front of the best goalie in the World”.
He ended his answer with this:
“…….Winnipeg was first choice. Just really happy to get it done and to call Winnipeg home for at least four more years.”
