Injury Update: Joel Armia and Shawn Matthias

Following the final practice before the final game prior to the Christmas break, coach Maurice was asked about the status of Joel Armia and Shawn Matthias.  Last night he provided this game plan in his pre-game comments to Dennis Beyak of TSN for both Joel Armia and Shawn Matthias:

“They’re both training well now.  I just want to get them more practices.  Nothing is set in stone.  We’ll get both of them through another practice tomorrow but they have to look right beyond being healthy.  So once they get cleared they got to get on the ice and look like they are ready to jump in the lineup.”

Less than 24 hours later here is the latest on the last two forwards on the Jets Injured Reserve:

“They’re not far off now.  We are kinda at the phase where we see how they feel the next day before we are going to make a decision on them.  But they’ve driven hard now three practices, I wouldn’t consider today’s too lengthy a practice, but they are rounding nicely.”

When asked by Ted if there is a chance for either to play tomorrow in the final game before the Christmas break coach Maurice added “There’s always a chance.”

Might we see 40 or 16 back in the lineup or will the Jets hold them out until the 27th when they play in Chicago to ensure both have additional days to heal up before getting back into game action.  We will have to wait until morning skate tomorrow to find out.  As always keep it locked to illegalcurve.com for any and all injury news and you can also be notified on social media including via Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.
