Injured Jets captain Blake Wheeler set to skate in Winnipeg

While today is Trade Deadline in the NHL and that has everyone refreshing their twitter feeds (and hopefully this website) 100 times per minute, there is still lots of other non-trade related news including the fact that the Jets do have a game to play in Ottawa.

Today on TSN during an interview with Sara Orlesky was doing a segment on what the Jets are looking to acquire and she also provided this nugget advising James Duthie and the TSN audience that back in Winnipeg team captain Blake Wheeler is expected to skate today at Bell MTS Place as he recovers from a concussion he suffered last Monday (April 5th) in a game against the Senators.

The Jets have won their first two games of this five-game road trip with game three going tonight in Ottawa against the Senators.

Update:

Sara indicated that Wheeler has been skating for about 25 minutes this morning.

Update II:

Jets coach Paul Maurice indicated that Wheeler skated on Sunday.  You can hear Paul Maurice’s comments here.
