During the 1st period of the game between the Jets and Golden Knights, defenceman Haydn Fleury went hard and backwards into the boards. He was down on the ice and they hand to bring out the stretcher.
Haydn Fleury had to be stretchered off the ice after crashing into the boards from a shove from Keegan Kolesar.

All of Fleury’s Jets teammates come out to check on him. Many of the Golden Knights were on the ice as well. Vegas goalie Carter Hart went up to the stretcher to say something.

Jets captain Adam Lowry and Golden Knights (and Manitoban) Keegan Kolesar dropped the gloves after the Fleury situation. The two presumably discussed having a tilt just seconds before as it was Kolersar’s hit which sent Fleury into the boards.

The Jets sent out this message as the 2nd period got underway:
“Haydn Fleury has been transported to hospital via ambulance. He was fully alert and moving his extremities upon departure. The team will provide more information when we have it.”
That’s good given how things looked when he was on the ice.
The update after the game from head coach Scott Arniel:
“He’s at the hospital. He’ll be staying overnight. Obviously he’s got a lot of tests to go through. He does have a broken nose, so there are a few different things that kind of happened off of it, a little bit of everything. Obviously, slammed his back, hit his neck, hit his head and obviously his nose.”
Never like to see that happen to someone.
Update:
At the media availability today, Jets coach Scott Arniel confirmed Fleury was discharged from hospital and was at the rink this morning with his teammates.

While we don’t know the full extent of the injuries, that is good news for the defenceman.
