During today’s media availability with Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff he was asked if his 36-man roster (not including goalies) for training camp in Winnipeg was set or if he was planning on offering any PTOs (professional tryout offers) to any free agents.
He confirmed that there are a couple which they will probably be announcing as training camp starts to open but added it was a “work in progress”.

The question then becomes who might be on that list? Here is a link to CapFriendly’s list of the current crop of unrestricted free agents.
One familiar name on that list is 10-year NHL veteran defenceman Travis Hamonic from St. Malo, Manitoba’s who spent the last three seasons with the Calgary Flames and who has expressed a desire to play in Western Canada. While he is unlikely to push anyone out of the Jets top six at this point in his career he could provide some insurance on the taxi squad, which would allow any prospects not in the lineup (i.e. Heinola, Samberg, etc) to be playing with the Moose (provided the AHL is playing).
