Game 9: New York Rangers 3 Winnipeg Jets 2 in OT post-game recap

The Jets lost late in OT as the Rangers win it 3-2. However, the points streak for Winnipeg hits five games (3-0-2) as they continue to bank points during this streak. While New York is riding an impressive five-game win streak as they defeat all four western Canadians teams plus Seattle.

Notable:

True North held a moment of silence for Adam Johnson who lost his life playing hockey in England.

No surprise that when the second tv timeout was rolling Jets fans got to their feet to give Blake Wheeler a standing ovation for his return to Winnipeg.

Some nice work by Cole Perfetti to protect the puck and then feed David Gustafsson (those two have done that before) which gave the 2018 2nd rounder his second goal of the season. Quite the milestone for the Swedish forward given last season he failed to get a goal.

We had a 2nd period proposal.

Nikolaj Ehlers on a nice individual play just after he and Cole Perfetti failed to click on a 2 on 1, made it 2-1 for Winnipeg courtesy of the wraparound which was his 400th NHL point.

The special teams failed Winnipeg with the power play going 0/3 and the penalty kill going 1/3 with that one goal being the game tying tally with under seven minutes remaining in the 3rd period.

Mason Appleton drew a late power play which expected to extra time but as illustrated above the Jets were mostly ineffective with the man advantage.

Rangers made them pay sinking the Jets with 26 left in OT.
