Game 80: Jets 6 Sharks 2 post-game recap

Post-game recap and interviews with Jets players as well as head coach Rick Bowness.

Another win for the Jets on fan appreciation night but it was the fans who appreciated the home team picking up a critical two points as they push for a playoff spot. Winnipeg up to 93 points.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats click here to see the results from the game via Natural Stat Trick.

Notable:

Pride of Clearlake, Manitoba Tristen Robins took a solo lap as he prepared to make his NHL debut for the Sharks here in Winnipeg. He had lots of friends and family in the crowd. Haven’t seen this many Sharks jerseys in Winnipeg since Foxwarren, Manitoba’s Pat Falloon played for San Jose. I’m kidding. But I just wanted to drop a reference to the first ever pick by San Jose.

Before puck drop the team announced the End of Season Award winners.

It was a milestone game for Josh Morrissey as he played in his 500th NHL game. Where does time go? Feels like just yesterday he was being drafted in New Jersey by the Jets.

The opening goal of the game by Pierre-Luc Dubois was a record setter for him as he set a new career high for points with 62.

For the second consecutive season Kyle Connor hits the 80 point mark (last year he got to 93).

With two goals in the game Sharks defenceman Erik Karlsson hit the 100 point mark becoming just the sixth ever blueliner to hit the century mark and the first since Brian Leetch back in 1992.

The Jets need just one point in their final two games to punch their tickets to the playoffs.

Multi Point Game:

Mark Scheifele 1G 1A
Kyle Connor 1G 1A
