Game 73: Jets 3 Ducks 0 post-game recap

Post-game from the Jets dressing room as well as from Coach Maurice.

Courtesy of their 3-0 victory the Jets continued their winning ways on this three-game road trip and improve to 44-25-4 on the season and have now won four straight.

For those who would like to take a deeper dive into the advanced stats here are the results from tonight’s game via Natural Stat Trick.

Gameplay:

– Mark Scheifele finished off a Kyle Connor pass to give the Jets a 1-0 lead late in the 1st on the PP;
– Corey Perry and Joe Morrow dropped the gloves in Morrow’s first game back after being injured in a fight;
– No scoring in the middle frame;
– Kyle Connor deflected Tyler Myers’ point shot past John Gibson to give Jets a 2-0 lead in 3rd period;
– Nikolaj Ehlers from a terrible angle somehow beats the Ducks goalie to make it 3-0;
– Winnipeg would hold on for the 3-0 victory.

Notable:

With a goal tonight Mark Scheifele has 35G 45A and for the second time in his career he hits the 80 point plateau.  Two seasons ago he got 82 points in 79 games.  This year he’s got 80 in 73 games.

Connor Hellebuyck picked up his 31st win of the season and first shutout as well (13th of his career).

Coach Maurice:  What did he like about his club’s performance, especially defensively?  Did he like that his club was able to get two goals in the 3rd?  Is he seeing more confidence from his younger players in 3rd periods?  Play of Trouba and Myers.  “Haven’t been pretty wins but getting the job done”.  On the Jets pushing back physically against the Ducks.
