Game 62: Winnipeg Jets vs Vancouver Canucks pre-game report

A look at the projected lineups and pre-game interviews.

The Jets removed three players from their lineup in Logan Stanley, Luke Schenn and Tanner Pearson and sent them all to the Sabres over a span of about 15 hours. In return they received Isak Rosén and Jacob Bryson, who were both expected to get to Winnipeg on Friday night. The team also recalled Brad Lambert and Elias Salomonsson up from the Moose. Additionally, they kept Ville Heinola up with the big club (which made him ineligible for the AHL playoffs).

Right now they sit seven points back of the final wild card spot which is held by Seattle. What Winnipeg has going for them is they’ve been streaking for their last five games going 3-0-2 although they’ll need to be collecting two points per game if they have any hope (no matter how remote).

The good news for them is they face the worst team in the NHL based on the standings. The Canucks have 45 points which puts them 10 back of the 31st ranked Flames. Their goal differential is -70. Tough times out west although they are a better road team than home team and are coming off a win over the Hawks in Chicago.

Odds:

Winnipeg has picked up momentum lately as they try to stay within reach of the playoff race, while Vancouver arrives near the bottom of the standings despite showing a bit more competitiveness on the road. On paper the edge leans toward the Jets, especially on home ice, but they’ll still need a solid effort to avoid a slip-up.. For the latest Winnipeg Jets hockey odds, visit NHL betting site Betway.
